Marshfield Clinic Health System Will Have Significant Presence at Farm Technology Days in Clark County

Marshfield Clinic Health System, one the country’s top rural health care systems, will have a significant presence at Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, July 12-14, at Roehl Acres in Loyal.

Marshfield Clinic will offer a number of health care screenings and educational booths promoting the importance of taking care of individuals’ health. The National Farm Medicine Center, Marshfield Clinic Research Institute, will host agricultural safety and rescue demonstrations and a child safety area.

Here are some of the resources that will be available during Farm Technology Days:

  • Dermatology – Free skin cancer screenings;
  • Optometry/Ophthalmology – Free acuity eye exams and eyeglass adjustments;
  • Occupational Health – Spirometry/lung checks, ear checks with free hearing checks vouchers, fit testing;
  • Primary Care – Will have a mobile unit onsite for tours and free blood pressure checks;

Marshfield Clinic will have educational booths that feature bariatric health, OB/GYN, bone health/osteoporosis, sleep lab, stroke and gastroenterology. Family Health Center will have an educational booth under the tent and one of their new mobile units onsite.

Security Health Plan will have information about health insurance options. All of Us Research Program, a national program that aims to gather data from at least one million people living in the U.S. to accelerate research and improve individualized health care.

Business Development/Business Health Solutions will staff a booth in the Blue Agribusiness tent; and Trauma Services/Injury Prevention will be in the Youth Tent offering their distracted driving simulator, Stop the Bleed interactive kit, ATV and farm safety.

The National Farm Medicine Center will offer a number of services for farm families. The National Farm Medicine Center Farm Safety and Rescue Area will feature live demonstrations of a tractor rollover, a tractor rollover rescue and a grain engulfment rescue.

Marshfield Clinic Occupational Health will provide fit-testing of respirators, and Farm Medicine will register Wisconsin farmers in a drawing for a free tractor rollover protection structure (ROPS) with installation included. The drawing will be held at the conclusion of Farm Technology Days.

The National Children’s Center for Rural and Agricultural Health and Safety, part of Farm Medicine, will be in the Youth Area with a “Safe Play Area” for children, containing play items for young children to try out.

Meanwhile, parents can learn how to build or upgrade play areas on their farms, and learn about assigning work to youth, based on the youth’s age and abilities. To stay updated on all the safety and rescue activities, visit www.facebook.com/farmmedicine.
