Minnesota Man Arrested After High Speed Chase in Jackson County

A Minnesota man was arrested in Jackson County after a high-speed chase.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, around 12:40am, they attempted to arrest 22-year-old Jeffrey Otis of St. Paul after he reached speeds of 100mph in a construction zone on I-94.

Law enforcement chased Otis for nearly 16 miles, heading north on I-94 and reaching speeds of 90-100mph. Eventually, a spike strip was used to stop the vehicle.

It was discovered that Otis had two small children in the vehicle. One child was in an infant carrier that wasn’t installed or fastened to the seat and the child wasn’t safely secured inside the carrier. Deputies also found 13 grams of methamphetamine.

Otis is facing charges of knowingly fleeing an officer, 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety, child neglect and possession of meth with intent to deliver. The Wisconsin State Patrol and Osseo Police Department also assisted with the arrest.
