T.J. Maxx to Open in Marshfield May 22nd

Friday, May 13th, 2022 -- 9:00 AM

(Melissa Siegler, Marshfield News-Herald) After months of anticipation, Marshfield's T.J. Maxx will open May 22, according to the company's website.

The store will be open that day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. After opening day, hours for the store will be 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. The building, 1629 N. Central Ave., is the former home of OfficeMax, which closed in May 2019, nearly 20 years after it opened.

Other central Wisconsin T.J. Maxx locations include Rib Mountain and Plover. The store offers an array of home décor as well as clothing for women, men and children.

Also, a new museum highlighting World War II, the Holocaust and more recently opened in Marshfield. The War Room Museum & World History, 253 S. Central Ave., lets people step back in time with historical items and photographs.

It's privately owned by veteran Tyler Smazal and operates on donations. Smazal said the museum would not have been possible without the help of his wife, Cierra, his children, Hunter and Haevyn, and his parents, Rick and Shirley Smazal.

You can buy museum merchandise and apparel on-site, as well as make custom dog tags on a WWII-era press. Dog tags purchased and made in honor of a loved one who served in the military can be displayed at the museum.

Follow the museum's Facebook page for updates and hours each week. The museum is also open by appointment for groups or events.
