Granton School Board Elects Officers

The Granton School Board selected their Officers:

  • Theresa Hasz was elected to serve as President,
  • Dennis Kuehn was elected to serve as Vice President,
  • Sheryl Young was elected to serve as Treasurer,
  • And Doug Eichten was elected to serve as Clerk.

The Board approved the Health, Dental, Vision & Property/Liability Insurance for 2022-23 including the Security Health Plan option for $2000/$4000 deductible Premier HMO and SimplyOne Plans and dropping the Point of Service option for the 2022-23 school year.

The Board was also presented with a Food Service Report by Char Johnson, Food Service Director. She provided information on the Summer Food Service Program and the National School Lunch Program for the 2022-23 school year.

The Board also approved offering middle school wrestling for the 2022-23 school year and approved the open enrollment applications for 2022-23. The Board also approved the 2022-23 WIAA High School Membership renewal, approved the Rural Virtual Academy affiliate agreement for 2022-23 to offer RVA through the school district for the first time, and approved the Project Search 66.0301 Governmental Interagency Agreement with Marshfield School District for a student who graduates this year.

They also approved the quote from Bluum for $8,425 for additional interactive displays, wall mounts, and balance boxes, and approved the quote from Dell Technologies for $25,528.50 for 30 laptops, pending approved application to the Emergency Connectivity Fund, round 3 and on the condition that they are comparable to the other quote.

The Board also approved the quote from SELK Electronics for $19,169 for the Central Gym audio upgrade, approved hiring Olyvia Pierce as a middle school teacher for the 2022-23 school year, and approved the maintenance supervisor, child care director, and technology coordinator contracts as presented.

They Board also approved the teaching contract for Loreto Lopez as elementary teacher for 2022-2023 school year and approved Dennis Kuehn as CESA 10 Annual Convention Representative.

For the Spotlight on Education Principal Amanda Kraus noted Spotlight on Education for May was the Reading Specialist/Instructional Support Program. The Students of the Month are:

  • Amanda Marquez for Elementary,
  • Mindy Dix for Middle School,
  • And Olivia Piskow for the High School.

They are recognized for the character trait of Persistence. Miranda Wallenhorst, 2nd Grade Teacher, is the Staff Member of the Month. She is recognized for the character trait of Persistence.

Student Council Representative Dolorosa Thomas reported on:

  • FFA Expo for Grades K-5;
  • Farm Tour at Reinart Dairy;
  • Healthy lifestyle activities;
  • FFA Banquet will be on May 11;
  • National FFA State CDE competition:
    • Ag Comms - Gold 2nd place team,
    • Jordan Berg - Silver,
    • Lizzy Reinart - Gold 3rd place individual,
    • Dolorosa Thomas- Silver,
    • Tori Seif - Bronze,
    • Agricultural Sales - Gold 4th place team,
    • Jordan Berg - Gold 10th place individual,
    • Justin Berg - Silver,
    • Lizzy Reinart - Gold 4th place individual,
    • Alexis Pongratz - Bronze,
    • Forestry - Gold 5th place team,
    • Sam Martin - Gold,
    • Kennedy Raimond - Silver,
    • Caleb Schoessow - Gold 6th place individual,
    • Dolorosa Thomas - Gold 9th place individual,
    • Horse Evaluation - Gold 4th place team,
    • Charlotte Hanna - Silver,
    • Abby Schoessow - Gold 6th place individual,
    • Anna Kayhart - Silver,
    • Grace Verhalen - Gold;
  • Granton FFA has applied for National Chapter & Food for America;
  • Megan Walter has been named Star Farmer & Star in Ag placement finalist;
  • Dairy Breakfast will be June 5 at JC Walter Farms;
  • Plant sale;
  • Track placed 2nd at Pittsville meet;
  • Prom was last weekend in April and the Senior King & Queen are Justin Berg & Megan Walter and the Junior King & Queen are Alex Gardner & Alexis Pongratz.

Finally, the Board heard the Administrators’ Report. Amanda Kraus updated the board regarding:

  • Banquet season;
  • ABC Count Down;
  • Junior/Senior mock interviews.

Superintendent James Kuchta updated the board on information including:

  • WASDA State Education Conference;
  • Crystal Apple Awards Banquet May 4 – Congratulations to Jessica Schier, 4 th Grade Teacher on receiving the Crystal Apple Award and for representing Granton in a tremendous way;
  • Granton Community Child Care Center update.
