Wisconsin Rapids Man Sentenced for Trying to Terminate his Then-Girlfriend's Pregnancy

A Wisconsin Rapids man was sentenced after trying to abort his then-girlfriends unborn child.

According to court records, Jeffrey Smith was arrested back in 2018 after his girlfriend found residue at the bottom of her water bottle. The residue was tested and was found to be the drug Mifepristone, which is used to terminate pregnancy.

Smith was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, attempted first degree homicide of an unborn child. Another charge was dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to five year in prison and 15 years of extended supervision.
