(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Nearly two dozen Wisconsin dairy companies have been named recipients of Dairy Processor Grants this year.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, the program is administrated through the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture to foster innovation, improve profitability and sustain the long-term viability of the state's dairy processing facilities.
The agency says $400,000 was available for the latest round of grants, with a maximum $50,000 allowed for each project. Recipients are required to provide a match of at least 20 percent of the grant amount.
Some local grant recipients include Holland's Family Cheese, Thorp; Lynn Dairy, Granton; and Wiskerchen Cheese, Auburndale. This year, DATCP received 43 grant requests totaling about $1.7 million dollars. The winning applicants were chosen through a competitive review process.
