Wisconsin State Superintendent Weighs-In on Debate Over Certain Lessons
Friday, April 22nd, 2022 -- 11:01 AM
(Terry Bell, WRN) Wisconsin’s schools superintendent is weighing-in on the debate over lessons on race, gender, and sexuality issues.
Superintendent Jill Underly wrote an op-ed, published this week, that defends creating safe spaces in schools. Underly says policymakers and other adults can’t allow harassment of students because of who they are.
Underly didn’t identify any specific policies, but her op-ed comes days after Governor Evers vetoed a bill that would have given parents more say about what’s taught in schools.
