Thorp Student Selected to Participate in WSMA High School State Honors Music Project
Tuesday, April 12th, 2022 -- 11:01 AM
Delaine Mathison, a junior at Thorp High School, was recently selected to participate in the WSMA High School State Honors Music Project as a member of the State Honors Treble Choir.
Auditions were held in seven sites across the state this past February where students demonstrated their sight-reading ability, tonal memory, as well as their musicality by performing a Class A solo.
Students selected to participate in the WSMA High School State Honors Music Project will meet for the first time at an intensive four-day summer camp at UW-Green Bay.
The WSMA High School Honors Summer Camp is a unique and essential component to the High School Honors Project experience as it is the first opportunity the selected students have to see their music, meet the conductor and rehearse as a newly formed ensemble. All Honors students reconvene in Madison in late October to perform at the annual Wisconsin State Music Conference.
The 2022 WSMA State Honors Treble Choir conductor is Dr. Rhonda Vieth Fuelberth, associate professor of music education and coordinator of graduate music education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
