More Stats From Latest Marquette Law School Poll

Friday, March 4th, 2022 -- 1:00 PM

(Raymond Neupert,WRN) Wisconsinites are increasingly concerned with the prices at the grocery store and the gas pump.

Marquette Law School Poll director Charles Franklin says Inflation is now a major concern for more than half of respondents to the poll. "Republicans are more concerned with inflation right now which is maybe not a surprising fact.”

Franklin says that despite fervent opposition to Assembly Speaker Vos from some supporters of President Donald Trump, the average Republican respondent doesn't have much of an opinion of him. "It's often beside you wouldn't associate with the issue that actually has a higher awareness of it and you see that was Speaker Vos with Democrats being a little more aware of him than Republicans appear to be.”

More than half of the respondents to this month's poll don't have any thoughts on the Speaker, but for those who do, more disapprove than approve of him.

More Wisconsinites want the state to legalize marijuana. That was one of the findings from the poll and Franklin says it's more than half the state. “ In March of 2014, 42% supported legalization 52% were opposed. Now it's 61% in support, 31% oppose.”

Republican lawmakers have been reluctant to even bring legalization bills to the floor in several of the last sessions, despite bipartisan efforts from members of the Legislature.
