Neillsville School Board Discusses ESSER Funds and More

The Neillsville School Board held a public hearing on ESSER funds.

These are federal dollars provided to the District in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Board also received an update on school report cards, approved the March operational plan and calendar as presented, and approved the 2022-2023 school calendar as presented.

Representatives from Wendel Companies, along with Lance Gregorich from CESA 10, and Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer, presented a building project update. The Board also approved the Van Ert contract in the amount of $7,600.

The Board approved the 4K schedule as half days from Monday through Thursday, with the school providing transportation, for 2022-2023 as presented, approved the Online Course Student Handbook as presented, approved the Expanded Course Offerings Handbook as presented, and approved the summer school course offerings for 2022 as presented.

The Board also approved the Neillsville Improvement Corporation membership as presented and approved the CESA 10 contract for 2022-2023 as presented. The Board also approved the Afghan Refugee project donations as presented.

In employment matters, the Board approved the resignation of Brooke Hainz from her teaching assistant position and Adam Kren from his assistant golf coaching position as presented.

The Board approved the hiring of Jessica Fitzl for the HR/Payroll position as presented, Shelly Klein for the custodian position as presented, Christina Mazzuca for the teaching assistant position as presented, and Duane King as a middle school track coach as presented.

The Board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding for Jessica Fitzl, Shelly Klein, Morgan Spencer, Kari Mayer, Chelsea Opelt, and Bryce DeSmet as presented.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Monthly character trait;
  • Marshfield Area YMCA survey;
  • 4-year-old kindergarten;
  • Plain Talk Conference;
  • Dr. Seuss Week radio readings;
  • And guidance/social emotional learning.

Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on:

  • Third quarter student teacher;

  • Valentine’s Day;
  • Academic elective classes update;
  • Guest speaker;
  • Middle school week;
  • Tundra Tales Reading Program;

  • And Crystal Apple Teacher of Distinction.

High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • 2022-2023 scheduling;
  • ACP updates;
  • Forensics update;
  • And Friends of Rachel Club.
