Minneapolis Man Sentenced in Eau Claire County for High Speed Chase

A Minneapolis man arrested after a multi-county, high speed chase was sentenced in Eau Claire County Court.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, back in July of 2020, state troopers noticed a vehicle traveling 103 mph on I-94 in Jackson County.  Troopers attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver, Devante Hatten, fled and the pursuit continued.

Hatten reached speeds as high as 130 mph.  Hatten was eventually taken into custody after tire deflation devices were used.  The vehicle he was driving had been stolen.

Hatten pleaded guilty to obstructing an officer and possession of illegally obtained prescription. Another charge was dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to pay court costs and fines and, if he pays that money, his record can be expunged.
