Wausau Alderman Wants to the City to Provide Drinking Water Due to Contaminated Wells

Friday, February 11th, 2022 -- 11:00 AM

(Bob Hague, WRN) A Wausau Alder is calling for swift action after this week's announcement that the city's drinking water supply contains elevated levels of PFAS.

Tom Kilian says he wants the city to start providing bottled or filtered water to residents who want it. Kilian says he's also concerned with how the city waited so long to tell residents about the 2019 tests which showed levels above the DNR's proposed standards, which were known later in the year.

The city announced the test results which showed all six water wells with levels above the proposed DNR standard of 20 parts per trillion, but below current EPA standards of 70 parts per trillion.
