Granton FFA Alumni Chapter Receives Recognition

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Many FFA Alumni members and their chapters were honored for their level of excellence during the past year at the Wisconsin FFA Alumni & Supporters Convention in Rothschild.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, on Saturday, the organization recognized the Weyauwega-Fremont FFA Alumni with its Outstanding Chapter Award in the small division, with Waupaca and Granton earning top honors for medium and large areas, respectively.

National Outstanding Chapter honors were also presented to the Denmark and Granton programs. The Denmark FFA Alumni also received the Dr. V.O. and Ann Martinson Award for having the greatest increase in lifetime members this year. And Elkhorn was chosen as the state winner of the first annual Public Relations Award.

This year's recipients of Outstanding Achievement Awards were:

  • Matt Wavrunek, Denmark;
  • Charlotte Johnson, Granton;
  • And Angela Baeten, Oconto Falls.

Sue Slotty from Sauk Prairie was presented the Team Ag Ed Contributor award for her support of FFA, FFA Alumni and Agriculture Education.

Outstanding Agriculture Educator Awards winners were:

  • Troy Talford & Sally Ladsten, Sauk Prairie;
  • Daniel Robinson, Lomira;
  • Marty Nowak, Denmark;
  • Mariah Markhardt & Walter Taylor, Oconto Falls;
  • And Katie Reider, Granton.

And the group honored BJ Chrisler from Sauk Prairie with its Outstanding Young Member Award. Meanwhile, Terri Wilfert of Mishicot was elected as the new president of the association. She replaces Nate Zimdars, Ripon, who will remain on the board for another year as past-president.

Members also elected Bobbie Jo Montgomery of Waupaca as the new president-elect, and Grant Staszak from Bonduel was chosen as vice president during the convention. The Wisconsin FFA Alumni is one of the nation's largest state affiliates with over 28,000 members listed on the group's roster.
