National Mastitis Council Recognizes Producers with Platinum National Dairy Quality Awards

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) The National Mastitis Council has honored six producers with Platinum National Dairy Quality Awards this week, of which four are from Wisconsin.

According to the Wisconsin Ag connection, the honors were presented during a program held in conjunction with the NMC 61st annual meeting on Wednesday in San Diego.

Wisconsin recipients includ:

  • Blue Star Dairy Middleton LLC, Middleton;
  • Country Aire Farms, Kaukauna;
  • Dolph Dairy LLC, Lake Mills;
  • And University of Wisconsin Marshfield Agricultural Research Station, Stratford.

In addition, there were 21 gold-ranked herds recognized, including Wisconsin's:

  • Baier Creek Farms, Elmwood;
  • Christop Dairy, Shiocton;
  • Dorner Farms, Luxemburg;
  • Jauquet Hillview Dairy, Luxemburg;
  • Kleinhans Dairy Farm, Kiel;
  • Maly Farms, Bryant;
  • Seidl's Mountain View Dairy, Luxemburg;
  • Theisen Family Farm, Campbellsport;
  • And Wenzel Hilltop Dairy LLC, Hilbert.

A Silver-ranked farm for milk quality from the Badger State was Andy and Laura Hecht, Cumberland. Now in its 28th year, the NDQA program's purpose is to recognize dairy producers across the United States who have successfully placed a high priority on producing high-quality milk.

Veterinarians, dairy plant field staff, dairy suppliers and Extension agents nominated more than 120 dairy producers for the awards.
