(Raymond Neupert, WRN) The State Legislature is working out how best to spend some 70 million dollars in broadband expansion funding.
State Representative David Steffen says lawmakers want to put together an interactive map for residents to see broadband connectivity in their area. "Individuals who are making decisions on where they're going to live or start a business can clearly one Stop Shop figure out exactly whether their parcel, their neighborhood is currently served by broadband.”
Steffen says the 70 million dollars from the Biden infrastructure bill will go towards wireless broadband. "It provides an opportunity to provide this a broadband service to the places that are the most remote, the hardest to reach, the ones that have a geological and topographical situation that are difficult to reach."
