NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHED!

Thursday, March 16th, 2006 -- 11:39 AM

A message from News Director, Paul Knoff:

Our website redesign has been a ?Labor of Love?, and while we?ve launched it Thursday, March 16th, 2006, it will continue to evolve over the next couple weeks and months.

We started posting news to our website a couple years ago. Over the past year, we?ve noticed an amazing increase in website usership ? especially ?hits? to our news page.

Our site was admittedly simple and Dan Schiller of SchilerMedia and I have been talking for months about ways to improve the content, while not increasing our small stations? workload too much.

We?ve turned to a number of web tools to help us accomplish this:

-?RSS Feeds? from the Wisconsin Radio Network allow us to provide updated state news and sports content. You can now find WRN News and Sports headlines at the bottom of our News and Sports pages. The headlines update automatically throughout the day, so check back often.

-We?ve created databases that will allow you to search our News archives.

-Without getting too morbid, we know people are interested in obituaries so we?ve created a database that will allow you to keep track of this information. A link to the database can be found at the righthand-side of the news page.

-We?ve begun creating ?special sections?. CWB News has so far produced special sections on the Christine Rudy case and the Neillsville Warriors Girls Basketball teams' trip to state.

And the list goes on. Click around. Enjoy the new look and features, but know there is more on the way.

Within the next year, we hope to begin offering some streaming audio of our newscasts, create features that will allow us to post ?raw? press releases to our site and (maybe) even start a Blog/Opinion section.

In order to make this feasible, we eventually hope to secure some sponsors for this site. If you enjoy this site, please pass the word on. Rest assured, we're committed to providing you a ?Big City? product in our little corner of Wisconsin!

On a personal note, thanks to Dan Schiller for all his hardwork!

Enjoy,

Paul Knoff, Central Wisconsin Broadcasting News
