Marshfield Medical Center Making Changes to Several Locations

Wednesday, January 19th, 2022 -- 11:00 AM

(Stevens Point Journal) Marshfield Medical Center-River Region at Stevens Point will open in May, while construction on a new Wisconsin Rapids hospital will start this year.

On Tuesday, Marshfield Clinic Health System announced plans for its new Stevens Point hospital, adjacent to Marshfield Clinic Stevens Point Center at 4100 State 66.

Once the expansion is finished, Marshfield Medical Center-River Region at Stevens Point will include 12 hospital inpatient beds, a surgical suite with operating and procedural rooms, emergency services and 29 specialty services, adult and pediatric primary care, physical and occupational therapy, urgent care, lab, imaging and optical services.

The hospital will also offer a full spectrum of cancer care at Marshfield Clinic Cancer Center. Susan Turney, Marshfield Clinic Health System’s CEO, said the hospital projects are part of the company’s strategy to expand access to health care in rural communities. “We made a promise to those we serve that we would provide care how, when and where they want to receive it, and we are proud to keep delivering on that promise,” Turney said.

The name highlights the “river region” to include the Stevens Point campus, as well as its planned hospital in Wisconsin Rapids that will be adjacent to its existing Marshfield Clinic Wisconsin Rapids Center at 220 24th St. S.

The company plans to start construction on the Wisconsin Rapids site this year, and the center plans to see patients in 2023. That project will include inpatient beds, an emergency department and expanded radiological services.

Marshfield Clinic Health System also has plans to expand services in Medford with a new medical facility that includes primary and specialty physicians, emergency medicine and hospital services to the community.

The company said construction is also planned for this year and it aims to see patients in 2023.
