Greenwood School Board Hears Update on Isolation and Quarantine Procedures

The Greenwood School Board received an update on the recent changes in isolation and quarantine procedures.

The new guidelines shorten the isolation and quarantine time. The district will be following these new guidelines. The Board also received additional information regarding the district-sponsored reading teacher licensing program.

The Board directed administration to continue developing this opportunity. The Board also approved the 2022-2023 school calendar and approved the setting of no limits for open enrollment applications into the district for 2022-23.

The Board also received an update on ESSER funds, reviewed the school safety reports from both schools, and tabled a 2021-22 budget update. The Board also discussed the draft of the 2021-22 District Priorities. Recommended changes will be brought back at the February meeting.

The Board also directed the WASB delegate to vote their conscience on WASB Resolutions. They also completed the first reading of NEOLA Policy Update 30-2. The second reading is scheduled for the February meeting.

The Board also discussed 1-year contract extensions (2023-24) for Elementary Principal/Director of Teaching and Learning, Athletic Director/Dean of Students, and Director of Business Services. The Board also accepted the Santa Project gifts from the individuals, businesses and service groups who donated to this event. Letters of thanks were sent to all.

The Board also accepted the resignation of Hannah Olson as the Cross Country Coach. They also approved the employment of David Denk as a substitute teacher/support staff. The Board also approved the Spanish Club day trip to St. Paul, MN.

The Board also heard the Committee Reports. Board Mark Shain updated the Board on CESA board news. Board Member Jerome Krempasky reported that their committee is working on the 2022-23 school calendars, timing of Parent-Teacher Conferences, and increasing conference participation at the MS/HS level.

Board Member Mark Lindner reported the ESSER Committee met to continue work on developing a project/priority list for the ESSER 2 and ESSER 3 funds. ESSER 1 and GEERS funds have been allocated and claims are starting to come in.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Joe Green shared an update on the planning for summer school; a preview of the Literacy Night in March; and an overview of the CESA 10 Star Lab activity and the Reading Buddies program.

District Administrator Todd Felhofer provided an update on an education related bill being discussed in Madison; Semester 1 ends January 18th; Juniors will be completing the ACT Boot Camp on January 12th . This excellent ACT prep program coupled with our in-house preparation will have our juniors ready the test on March 8th.
