Republican State Lawmakers Would Let Employers Accept Past COVID Infections to Meet Vaccine Requirements

Wednesday, January 12th, 2022 -- 1:01 PM

(Bob Hague, WRN) Republican state lawmakers would let employers accept a past COVID-19 infection to meet vaccine and testing requirements for their workers.

Representative Cody Horlacher and Senator Mary Felzkowski want to allow employees to submit a document signed by a health care provider, showing that the person tested positive for COVID-19, or tested for the presence of naturally occurring antibodies.

Employers would also have the option of accepting a notarized letter written by the worker as proof of a past infection. The bill would allow employers to retain unvaccinated workers, and let workers qualify for unemployment benefits if they are fired for refusing vaccination.

Governor Tony Evers is expected to veto such legislation.
