Wisconsin Elections Commission Stepping Up How Frequently They're Checking to See if Voters Moved

Wednesday, January 12th, 2022 -- 9:00 AM

(Raymond Neupert, WRN) The Wisconsin Elections Commission is stepping up how frequently they're checking on voters to see if they've moved.

Elections Commission Technology Director Robert Kehoe says the commission is now bundling those mailings every quarter as opposed to every year. "It's a little bit of work for the staff to put together the mailings. However, we think the benefits outweigh this minor drawback."

Kehoe says doing the mailings in batches rather than in one big bulk mailing is slightly more expensive, but better in the long run. "The quarterly mailing process has simplified the clerk workload, because instead of getting one big mass of hundreds of 1000s of pieces going out, you know, there, it's spread out over the year."

It also keeps clerks in the loop when it comes to having to handle the local side of pulling people off of voter rolls.
