Wood County Man Arrested for Overdose Death

On December 21st, the Wood County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Village of Hewitt for a report of a deceased 22-year-old female.

An initial investigation by the Sheriff’s Department indicated that the woman died of a drug overdose and the initial autopsy results seem to confirm it; however, they are waiting for the final results before a determination is made.

On December 22nd, the Sheriff’s Department executed multiple search warrants and interviewed multiple individuals who were connected to the death of this woman. On December 22nd, the Sheriff’s Department took a male subject from Wisconsin Rapids into custody.

They determined he provided the drugs to the woman. 26-year-old Luis Reyes is being held in the Wood County Jail. The Sheriff’s Department is requesting charges of first degree reckless homicide along with other drug charges.
