Thursday, January 6th, 2022 -- 2:00 PM
The Marathon County Public Safety and Health and Human Services Committees discussed lessening fines for possession of marijuana at a meeting on Wednesday.
County Supervisor Jeff Johnson was behind the idea for the change. He believes that responsible individuals should be able to use without fear of criminal charges. The suggestions included reducing fines for having 25 grams or less of marijuana to $50 instead of $100.
No decision was made at the meeting. The County will continue to discuss the idea.
