Stratford Man Arrested for Trying to Kill a Woman

A Stratford man was arrested after he attempted to kill a woman on Christmas day.

According to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, a woman stated 41-year-old Jose Miguel Ortez-Herrerra became angry with her and tried to strangle her with a phone cord and stab her. She was able to escape.

During his court appearance on Monday, a $25,000 bond was set, but he could be released if he’s able to post at least $5,000 in cash. He’s now allowed to have contact with the victim and he’s scheduled to be back in court on January 10th.
