Marathon County Bomb Squad Remove Suspected Pipe Bombs from Marshfield Apartments

(Marshfield News Herald) -The Marathon County Bomb Squad responded Thursday evening to the 800 block of East Harrison Street to help remove suspected pipe bombs from an apartment building. 

At 6 p.m. Thursday, a family member of a 70-year-old Marshfield man reported finding suspected explosive devices in the man's apartment, according to the Marshfield Police Department news release.  Police found the devices in the man's apartment, according to the news release. Police evacuated about a third of the apartment building for all or part of the six hours authorities were on the scene. The Marathon County Bomb Squad helped with the removal of the suspected explosives.

There is no information that suggests the 70-year-old man intended to use the devices, but the investigation is continuing, according to the news release. Police said there were no remaining safety concerns for the public on Friday.
