Wisconsin Rapids Common Council Holding Public Hearing Regarding Discontinuation of Street

The Wisconsin Rapids Common Council will be holding a public hearing regarding a resolution to discontinue a portion of Avon Street.

Wood County is requesting this discontinuation to construct their new County jail. The parcels north and south of Avon Street will be combined to create one parcel for the development.

The county will cover costs associated with any utility relocation under the road. They will also provide utility easements for any city utility in the current Avon Street right-of-way.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. on Nov. 16 in the Council Chambers at City Hall in Wisconsin Rapids.
