Black River Falls Man Sentenced For Firing Gun At Wife

Saturday, October 30th, 2021 -- 8:35 AM

A Black River Falls man was sentenced for firing a gun at his wife.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, back in May, they received a call that a man had fired a gun at his wife. Johnathan Heller was at home with their toddler because both he and the toddler had been diagnosed with COVID-19. The man’s wife kept trying to call Heller, but he wouldn’t answer and she grew concerned that he had become very ill. She arrived at their home and started talking with Heller when she noticed he had a gun. She left the residence and called the authorities. It was when she was leaving that he fired at, and hit, his wife’s vehicle. When authorities arrived, Heller gave them the child and allowed himself to be arrested.

Back in September, Heller pleaded guilty to one count of 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety and endangering safety by reckless use of a firearm. Heller was sentenced to 10 years of probation, but if he breaks any conditions of his probation, he’ll spend 12.5 years in prison and 5 years of extended supervision.
