Wisconsin Cheese Production Falls in October

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsin cheese production fell for the third consecutive month during October.

According to the USDA's latest dairy product summary, the state churned out 285.9 million pounds of cheese during the month. That was 0.9 percent less than last year, but 2.8 percent more than this past September, which had less days on the calendar.  Nationally, about 1.13 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States in October.

That was a slight 0.6 percent decrease from 2019, but 1.3 percent more than the previous month.  Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 24.6 million pounds, which was up 3.6 percent from last year, and 18.2 percent higher compared to last month.
