POSSIBLE MURDER WITNESS FACES IOWA CHARGES

Thursday, January 26th, 2006 -- 2:30 PM

A woman that search warrants indicate may have been present when Chistine Rudy was murdered is facing extradition to Iowa to face burglary charges.

Search warrants indicate 18-year-old Heather Teschler told a 23-year-old Stanley woman that she was present when Shaun Rudy shot his wife.

Now, Taylor County District Attorney Karl Kelz says Clayton County, Iowa, has issued an arrest warrant for the Thorp woman, who was being held in Taylor County after violating her probation by using methamphetamine.

Iowa County authorities allege Teschler participated in a burglary in Guttenberg, Iowa. Vandals stole nearly $5,000 of property from a home there ? including three firearms.

Clark County authorities announced last week they recovered stolen weapons from a storage unit rented by Shaun Rudy. They believe one of those weapons was used to shoot and kill Christine Rudy.

Clayton County is seeking a Governor?s Warrant to force extradition.

Clayton County's District Attorney Kevin H. Clefisch says he plans on filing charges against Teschler, but hasn't done so yet.

Clayton County has not taken similar action against Shaun Rudy, who Clark County authorities believe was also involved in the break-in.

Heather Teschler remains in Taylor County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond associated with the active warrant, Kelz stated.
