More details regarding a woman arrested after a homicide earlier this month has been released.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, on September 9th, they received a call about two individuals needing medical assistance. The man, 53-year-old Thomas Boetcher, was bleeding from a stab wound on his arm.

He was taken to the Black River Memorial Hospital and then flown to Marshfield Medical Center where he later died. The woman, 53-year-old Kellie Schmidt of Brockway, has been in a relationship with Boetcher and living with him.

She was taken to the hospital, but arrested by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department after her release. Schmidt is being charged with first-degree intentional homicide as an act of domestic abuse while using a dangerous weapon. Schmidt is being held in the Jackson County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.

Assisting the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in the incident and investigation are Black River Falls Emergency Medical Services, Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigations, Department of Justice State Crime Lab, and Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Recon Group.
