SHAUN RUDY BACK IN COURT

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005 -- 12:38 PM

Shaun Rudy was back in court this morning. The 23-year-old Thorp man is the husband of Christine Rudy. The 21-year-old went missing on November 12th and investigators have since found her remains in an undisclosed location.

While a cause of death hasn't been determined, investigators say it appears Christine did not die of natural causes and they've launched a criminal investigation into her death.

Christine Rudy was believed to be six months pregnant at the time of her disappearance.

Shaun Rudy was arrested on unrelated charges days after reporting his wife missing.

He faces felony possession of a firearm and drug paraphernalia charges.

Today was his arraignment - a court hearing where the defendent is allowed to enter pleas to charges against him. On the advice of his attorney William Poss, Rudy stood mute on the charges and Clark County Circuit Court Judge Jon Counsell entered pleas of "not guilty" on his behalf.

Chief Deputy James Backus of the Clark County Sheriff's Department says they are still waiting for autopsy results to return from the State Crime Lab. He said they continue to conduct interviews. He said there are several "people of interest" in the investigation, including Shaun Rudy.

Shaun Rudy remains jailed on a $1,000 cash bond and probation hold.
