NAME OF VICTIM OF TUESDAY'S SHOOTING RELEASED

Thursday, December 1st, 2005 -- 12:34 PM

The Clark County Sheriff?s Department is releasing the name of the victim in Tuesday?s shooting involving law enforcement officers. 36-year-old Shane Jacoby of the Hatfield area was shot and killed after a confrontation with officers responding to a report of an altercation in southern Clark County.

As we reported Wednesday, the state Division of Criminal Investigation continues to look into the incident.

Clark County Sheriff Louis Rosandich tells WCCN they are also investigating tips that Jacoby may have been involved in another altercation before he confronted a passerby on Riviera Avenue, prompting a 9-1-1 call. No further information in that matter is being released at this time.

Both Clark and Jackson County officers responded to the scene; it remains unclear which officer, or officers, fired the fatal shot or shots. Jacoby?s body was sent to Minnesota for an autopsy on Tuesday.
