Wisconsin Emergency Rental Assistance Program Will Now Cover Internet Costs

Thursday, July 8th, 2021 -- 10:01 AM

(Bob Hague, WRN) A statewide program covering rental and utility costs for households in need during the pandemic will now cover internet costs.

Governor Tony Evers says the decision to include internet costs follows a renewed emphasis on expanding broadband to rural and other underserved communities.

The Wisconsin Emergency Rental Assistance Program received over 322 million dollars in emergency rental assistance funds through the federal pandemic relief program.

It's so far paid 38 million to cover costs for nearly 11,000 households. Those households can receive up to 12 months of assistance on current and overdue bills.
