Owen-Withee School Board Hears Administrators' Reports

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Monday.

Elementary Principal Julie Van Ark reported on the completion of fall assessments by the staff and the need to go virtual with Parent/Teacher Conferences due to the rise in COVID-19 activity. Picture retake day will be Wednesday, October 14th and the Scholastic Book fair has gone virtual for this year. Finally, the whole school Halloween parade had been canceled for this year, but the school will find a way to celebrate in the classrooms. Middle/High School Principal Matt Cihlar reported on the plan that the staff has developed in case the need to go completely to virtual learning happens. The plan outlines student and staff expectations and creates rules that students are to follow. He also reported while Homecoming has been canceled the middle/high school will have a dress up week October. 19-23.

Finally, he stated the virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences went about as well as expected and they will be hosting a STEM camp for girls on Saturday, October 24th. Finally, District Administrator Bob Houts reported on the USDA grant that the district is involved with with CESA 10 to upgrade some of our distance learning equipment this year. He also announced that the district is part of 6 communities across Wisconsin who have received a grant to be a part of a pilot project with the Wisconsin Economic Development Council to develop a plan to provide high speed internet access to all students in the district.
