Neillsville Public Library Update for the Week of October 4th-10th

-The Neillsville Public Library is open with limited hours and restrictions.First, they ask that you please do not enter the building if you are sick or have any symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat, headache etc. If you do not feel well do not enter. The staff will be wearing face masks so they also ask you to wear one and please use hand sanitizer provided at the door before entering. The library will be open from 10am-8pm on Monday and Wednesday. They’ll be open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am-5pm. There are still no Saturday hours. They are allowing up to 20 patrons at a time, but that will be at the librarian’s discretion. You can still do curbside pick up, just call 743-2558. You are allowed one 30 minute session per day to use the library for such things as browsing, checking out books and materials, professional/education use of computers/printers/copiers. They will now allow children ages 10 and up to be in the library for their 30 minutes or possibly more if they are working on school work, reading or browsing etc. Anyone under age 10 must be accompanied by a parent, older teen or caregiver. There is still no gaming. Friday Story Hour with Miss Kathy will continue virtually and will be posted on their Facebook page. Every other Friday is Story hour with Miss Kathy and always has a theme with a “make and take craft” out in the foyer for families to pick up. The craft item always goes along with the story. One craft per child may be brought home. Make sure to watch and listen on their Facebook page for Miss Kathy’s story hour and pick up the craft. Also, Teen Read Week is October 11-17th. They want more teens to come into the library, especially on their days of remote learning from school. This year, they will be having a giveaway drawing for any teenager that checks out books during that week. They have a YETI tumbler to give away the end of that week. A teen can come in and check out books. Then for each book they check out, they can put their name in the drawing. So, if you check out 10 books their name goes in 10 times for the drawing for a Navy Blue Yeti Tumbler and handle accessory.
The 2020 Reading challenge is still under way and continues until November 7th. There is an Amazon Fire to give away. There is a prize drawing for the number of books read from February until November. Complete your reading challenge with anywhere from 27 to 57 book prompts For a Chance to WIN an Amazon Fire 7. Make sure you come in and pick up the challenge prompt sheet. October 18th-24th is National Friends of the Library. The Neillsville Public Library gets by with a little help from their friends and community including with the Neillsville Public Library Foundation. The foundation was established in 2008 and that group has given money over the recent years to fund many items and programs at the library. From children’s summer reading programming, new furniture, and contributions to the new and emerging technology needs plus support for staff and director training, all of these have been funded by our Library Foundation group. October 18th-24 and the National Friends Of Libraries Week, is the perfect time and opportunity for our Neillsville Public Library staff to give our Friends at the Neillsville Library Foundation a big shout out for all they do to make a difference every single day. They ask everyone to join them to Celebrate Friends of the Library Week and thank the Foundation for all they do to make the library and community so much better.
Some other reminders, they have some computer stations open and they now have self service for copying and faxing. During your time in the library, please keep a distance of 6 ft between yourself and another patron or staff in the library, just follow the floor signage. Once you touch an item please put it on the shelf for quarantine. The outside bookdrop as well as inside book/dvd drop baskets are available. Do not place items on the circulation/front desk. You will be required to do a self check out at the corner desk. If you do not have your library card, no worries, the staff can help get your library card number with the computer on the staff side of the desk.
