Neillsville City Council Hears Committee Report

-The Neillsville City Council heard the various committee reports at their meeting on Tuesday of last week.

Mayor Diane Murphy reported on the September 8th meeting of the Finance Committee regarding discussion on the budget process and directions to department heads and committees, discussion on and referral of non-union employee wages and benefits for 2021 to the Personnel Committee and setting the budget meeting schedule. Mayor Murphy also reported on the September 8th and 10th meeting of the Personnel Committee. They had a closed session on Police Union contract negotiations and a closed session on non-member employee wages and benefits. After reconvening into open session, they approved recommendations of a non-union employee wage schedule for 2021 to the Finance Committee. City Clerk Rex Roehl reported on the September 14th meeting of the Board of Cemetery Commissioners regarding current activities and work on and referral of the proposed 2021 Cemetery budget to the Finance Committee. Council Member Joe Neville reported on the September 14th meeting of the Airport Commission regarding work on and referral of the proposed 2021 airport operating and capital budgets to the Finance Committee.

Council Member Tom Harnish reported on the September 16th meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission regarding regarding discussion on funds, work on and referral of the proposed 2021 Historic Preservation budget to the Finance Committee, discussion on the Commission’s 2020 Action Plan, discussion on a draft letter to be sent to historic property owners and preparing various resources in print and/or on the city’s website, discussion on future “Historic Tourism” ideas and an upcoming October State level Historic Preservation virtual meeting.
