Marshfield City Council Won't Interfere With Trick-or-Treating
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020 -- 9:04 AM
(WDLB) -City officials in Marshfield will not interfere with trick-or-treating activities next month. The Common Council last night took no action, after City Administrator Steve Barg told aldermen some communities have. Alderman Ken Bargender suggested extending the official hours of trick-or-treating by one hour, allowing for younger kids to get started by four o-clock, instead of waiting until five. Alderman Nick Poeschel said this was "a perfect opportunity for the citizens of Marshfield to have some decisions made by themselves, rather than having the government tell them what to do".
Without taking a vote, the Council is allowing the event to go forward, while agreeing to put out some safety tips, publicizing things that parents and kids can do to protect themselves. The official citywide trick-or-treating hours remain 5-to-7 p.m.
