Business Sectors Have More Favorable View of Farming

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -For the first time in 20 years of Gallup tracking, farming and agriculture is best viewed among the 25 sectors assessed.That's according to the results of a recent survey which measures public opinion of U.S. business sectors. The findings reveal that Americans recognize farmers for their hard work and dedication to feeding the world, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought an increase in consumers' understanding of, and appreciation for, farmers' role in ensuring community well-being. "In addition to farmers being recognized for their essential role, the Gallup Poll shows promise for job growth in the farming and agriculture industry," said Chad Vincent, who is the CEO of Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin.
He continued, "We hope to continue to raise awareness of all the rewarding and reliable careers that are available, particularly among young people and women." Vincent says there is a growing number of young talent in the industry, as Millennials and Gen Z are pursuing meaningful careers such as farming and agribusiness.
