Saturday, September 19th, 2020 -- 1:46 PM

The Greenwood City Council approved the resignation of one of their aldermen at their meeting on Wednesday.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board approved the resignation from Ward 1 council member Charles Susa. Deanna Jordan and Travis Petke were nominated for the Ward 1 council vacancy. Petke won 2 to 1 vote and accepted the position to be filled until April 2021. A resident made a public appearance to discuss wanting the city to put cameras on each entrance of town for the safety of the public and to help law enforcement. He shared with the council different camera options he thought would work well. The city clerk will look into the cost and discuss with the IT service provider. Also, Democratic Candidate Emily Berge came to discuss her reasons for running for the 68th assembly.

The council also discussed having Cannery Street lot land switch surveyed and taken to Planning and Zoning for approval. No action was taken. The council also approved the purchase of the replacement of RAS #3 pump through Crane Engineering quote option #1 with the adder for a total of $1,496. The council also approved a wage increase for several city employees and motioned to conditionally approve the conditional use permit with the condition that Borntreger becomes the owner and a building that is 14’ x 32’ is constructed up to code with electrical and plumbing and placed on a cement slab
