Greenwood School Board Hears Administrators' Reports

The Greenwood School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Monday.

Elementary Principal Joe Green provided an update on the start of the school year. Summer Food Program has been extended until December 31st and all Greenwood students will receive free breakfast and lunch. Mr. Green highlighted the changes in dismissal procedures including bus loading and parent pick-up changes are faster and safer. He also provided an update on the 1:1 Initiative, which has also provided all students with a device. Athletic Director and Dean of Students Jenni Mayenschein provided an update on fall sports. The number of participants is very solid. Practices are being held and games and matches will be happening soon. Ms. Mayenschein also shared with the board discussions being held by the conference and on the number of spectators to allow at events.

The discussions have included ideas ranging from no fans at all to 4 tickets per player. Most schools have not made a final decision. Finally, she stated Homecoming Week is scheduled September 28th-October 3rd. Efforts are being made to continue as many of the traditional events as possible. District Administrator Todd Felhofer provided an update on the State Budget, with the latest news being more positive. The budget situation does not look as bleak as it did 3-4 months ago, however, it will still be a tough budget. The district also received the Marshfield Clinic’s Triple C Seal of Approval as a COVID Compliant facility.
