Owen-Withee School Board Discusses Duty Free Lunch Agreement

Friday, September 18th, 2020 -- 9:04 AM

-The Owen-Withee Board School discussed a duty free lunch agreement at their meeting on Monday.

The board reviewed an agreement that was put in place between the district and each MS/HS teacher because of the lack of a 30 minute duty-free lunch due to the implementation of the block schedule and the eating of lunch in the classrooms. The options included receiving $10 per day based on pay when they substitute teach. Also, being able to leave school at 1:30 PM on Fridays, which is 30 minutes per lunch missed Monday ??" Thursday. Finally, taking the 30 minute lunch each day. 18 staff members chose option 1, 5 selected option 2 and no one opted for the third choice. The board has been discussing eliminating the need for board representatives from specific areas, 2 from Owen, 1 from Withee and 4 from the rural areas.

The first step in this process is to have petitions signed by district residents presented to the Board Clerk. 110 signatures were presented at Monday’s meeting. The next step will be to vote on the issue at the Annual Meeting on October 12. If passed there, it will become the practice for the April 2021 election and elections from then on. The board also discussed the Prevea TeleMental Health Agreement. The board unanimously approved an agreement with Prevea Health to allow for TeleMental Health sessions in our building with our students. This agreement is similar to what already have in place with Clark County and Living Well.
