Body of Missing Marshfield Biker Found Sunday Afternoon

(Marshfield News Herald) -The family of Dale Larson shared on Facebook Sunday afternoon that the body of the missing 65-year-old Marshfield biker was located Sunday morning in the town of Rome.“Our Dad’s body was recovered this morning around 11:30 a.m. It appears he stopped to take a break down by a creek in a heavily wooded area,” his son, Andrew Larson, posted. “He was found with his bike sitting close by. By all indications he passed peacefully.” According to the Rome Police Department, Larson’s body was found at 11:23 a.m. Sunday in a wooded area near the Wood County and Adams County line, east of County Highway Z, by Wings of Hope, a nonprofit search and rescue organization based in Medford. Larson had last been seen on his silver Trek bicycle at 3:17 p.m. Aug. 28 at the intersection of 15th Avenue and Alpine Drive in the town of Rome. His family reported him missing around 8 p.m. that evening when he did not return home.
Rome Police Chief Jason Lauby told a Daily Tribune reporter Friday that police had searched portions of northern Adams County and southern Wood County but had no leads in the case and had no confirmed sightings of Larson. He said organized law enforcement searches ended late Aug. 30, but family and friends continued to search for Larson. Larson’s family thanked everyone for their support. “We want to especially thank the Rome Police and Fire Departments, Adams County Sheriff’s Department and Fire & Rescue, Wood County Sheriff’s Department and Fire & Rescue, Wisconsin National Guard, local ATV and snowmobile clubs, and especially Wings of Hope Wisconsin," Andrew Larson posted.
