Wednesday, October 26th, 2005 -- 8:45 AM

They?re coming home. The Wisconsin Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 128th Infantry, with a detachment from Neillsville, is returning home to Wisconsin this week.

The battalion is expected to return to Volk Field aboard several aircraft during the next week and a half. The first 125 soldiers from the New Richmond and Rice Lake units arrived at Volk Field Tuesday morning.

1st Battalion, 128th Infantry was mobilized June 20, 2004, and deployed to Iraq in November of last year following several months training at Camp Shelby, Miss., and Fort Irwin, Calif. T

he battalion served for nearly one year overseas in central Iraq in the Samara area. Returning soldiers will be met by their families, senior National Guard officials and the 132nd Army Band.

Norm Lenburg of the Wisconsin National Guard tells WCCN/WPKG that they don?t know when each unit will return home, but they will try to send out press advisories 48-hours in advance.
