Tuesday, September 1st, 2020 -- 10:58 AM

-The Neillsville School District held their Annual Meeting after the regular meeting on Monday.

The state general aid, which is given to balance the tax levy, is estimated to be $5,998,824 for this school year compared to $5,284,724 last year, which is an increase of $714,100. For the Fund 10 Expenditures, or General Fund, it was $11,103,509.89 last year and $11,205,150 this year, which equals an increase of $101,640. For revenue, the numbers are the exact same, meaning the district will have a balanced budget for this next school year. Once again, the Neillsville School District has no debt service. For Fund 46, or Facility Improvement, the district had $2,221,397.81 last year and $2,695,202.81 this year. These funds can only be used for facility improvements and they can’t be used 5 years after its creation. The Neillsville District is currently on year 4. Finally, for the Community Service Fund, the district has $75,000 in there. However, the district donates significantly more, but they only claim $75,000. This money is used to allow the community to use the district for different purposes.

Finally, the proposed tax levy came to $3,446,176 for the general fund, $0 for the debt service, $75,000 for Community Service, a credit of $3,288 for exempt computer funding, making a total of $3,517,888, which is a decrease over last year’s $3,880,840. For mil rates, Neillsville is one of the lowest in the county with 7.39. The area average is 9.37, which is the same as the state average. Neillsville spends around $11,673 per student compared to the state average of $13,913. Their revenue per student comes to $12,333 per student compared to the state average of $14,316. The board, and community members present, approved the tax levy of $3,517,888 with 13 voting yes and 0 votes for no.
