Thorp School District Already Needs to Delay Start of School Due to Coronavirus

Friday, August 28th, 2020 -- 11:58 AM

-Many Clark County schools are starting classes next week, but one school has already needed to delay the start of classes due to the coronavirus.

Several staff members at the Thorp School District have tested positive for COVID-19. The district and the Clark County Health Department have not released the number of infections, but they are working with the district to track and contain the virus. The district has been doing professional development and staff in-service training. The Clark County Health Department is working with the district and taking the necessary steps to stop the spread of the virus.

The Thorp School District will now start classes on September 15th instead of the 1st. The district stated the delay will give the district enough time to make sure the district is safe for student’s return. The family and close contacts of the staff have been notified.
