Greenwood School Board Discusses Reopening Plan and Mask Usage

-The Greenwood School Board discussed the district’s reopening plan at a special meeting held on Monday.The board received an update on the district’s reopening and they discussed what to do if there is a question of a medical exemption to wearing a mask. A physician’s note will be required. The district will also look for possible accommodations. The board also received an update on the Triple C Seal of Approval. District buildings were reviewed last week and recommendations and remedies are being completed to meet the standards. The board also heard about a setback with the district’s 1:1 Device Initiative. The computer supplier could not meet the district’s order, so they are looking to other vendors to remedy. However, the board did approve the district’s 1:1 Device Insurance Plan. The board also approved a language change to Instructional Preparation in the Professional Staff Handbook and they approved the language change to long-term substitute teacher pay in the Substitute Teacher Handbook.
The board also received an update on the long-term district substitute teacher positions. They decided to hire one position now and assess usage and need as the year goes on. The board also approved raising the regular substitute teacher pay from $110/day to $115/day. The board also approved the donation of $5,000 to the softball fence project at George Scherer Park. Finally, in employment matters, the board approved the transfer of Penny Hebert to SPED Assistant; the reassignment of Sue Felhofer from 3 to 5 days per week Study Hall Supervisor; Hannah Olson, Long-term District Substitute Teacher; and Yolanda Arch, Substitute Food Service Worker/Educational Assistant.
