Marshfield Man's Body Recovered from Lake DuBay

Monday, August 24th, 2020 -- 10:05 AM

(Marshfield News Herald) -The body of a 21-year-old Marshfield man has been recovered from Lake DuBay.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources conservation wardens recovered the body of Jesse T. Buchanan at 2:54 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department. Buchanan had been missing since about 6:30 p.m. Friday. The sheriff’s department received a report Friday that Buchanan was missing in Lake Dubay. They were told Buchanan jumped from a boat and did not return to the surface, the sheriff’s department said. The dive team and conservation wardens conducted a joint search of Lake DuBay, north of Seagull Drive boating landing, starting Friday night.

The search continued during daylight hours Saturday and Sunday. The Mosinee Fire/EMS Department and MEDIVAC helicopter from Aspirus Wausau Hospital also assisted in the search. The incident is being investigated by both the Wisconsin DNR and the sheriff's department.
