Granton Village Board Discusses Budget Amendments

-The Granton Village Board discussed some budget amendments at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board reviewed the budget and corrected the amount of money budgeted for hydrants. COVID will cause a shortfall in the amount of money received from the park since there were no high school baseball games and no Little League or PeeWee. They have an emergency issue with the park pond and it looks like a new overflow system will cost an additional $10,000. The budget was amended to reflect these. The board heard the Library Update. As the school year is upon us and the library hours are extended, library patrons will be required to wear masks and temp readings will be taken during school hours. Due to the pond issue and gravel projects, there was no Water or Waste Water Report for the board.
The Village Clerk provided an update. The Election Primary on August 11th was held without issue. Total absentee ballots sent for this election was 68, 19 in person. Two building permits were issued, one for a 42 X 48 garage with an estimated value of $58,000 and another for a 3 season porch with an estimated value of $800. A couple operator’s licenses were issued as well. Finally, the board heard the Treasurer’s Report. The Deposit and Expense report was presented. The Checking balance is $142,958.15, the Money Market balance is $528,853.16, the Cemetery CD is $16,927.29, the CDBG balance is $32,180.77, and the Library balance is $33,847.51.
