Monday, August 17th, 2020 -- 9:23 AM

Wood County officials have identified the Vernon County woman who was killed in a two-vehicle crash late Thursday afternoon.

WDLB reports that the crash occurred just after 4:00 p.m. at Highways H-and-V in the town of Lincoln just west of Marshfield. According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, a southbound S-U-V on Highway “V” driven by 35-year-old Rita Davis of Westby failed to yield the right-of-way from a stop sign to a westbound pickup truck on Highway “H”, driven by 58-year-old David Appleyard of Neillsville. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. Appleyard was in serious condition at last word.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the town of Lincoln Fire Department and First Responders, and by Marshfield ambulance.
