Neillsville School Board Approves District Reopening Plan

Thursday, August 6th, 2020 -- 11:07 AM

-The Neillsville School Board approved the proposed reopening plan for the district at their meeting on Monday.

The board approved the proposed reopening plan for the new school year. The plan will see elementary students, 5K-6th, attend Monday-Thursday. High School will be broken up into an A group and a B group and they will attend Tuesday-Friday. That is slightly different than the plan that was originally proposed, but the change was necessary as the district would be losing some Monday’s once the school year starts. Masks will be required for students and staff and the district will be limiting visitors and following the WIAA guidelines for sports. Several people were present at the board meeting to ask questions and provide feedback in regards to the plan.

But, overall, they were in favor of the plan and getting the kids back to school. The goal of the district is to do what they can to combat the virus so the district doesn’t have to close completely. The board also approved the Emergency Disaster Plan for the next school year. This is done by the board every year and deals with all types of emergencies and is not coronavirus related. I’ll be speaking with Administrator John Gaier tomorrow on the reopening plan and have more information for you.
