Dairy Cares of Wisconsin Reaches Huge Milestone

Sunday, August 2nd, 2020 -- 9:03 AM

A non-profit organization established by leaders of Wisconsin's dairy industry has reached another huge milestone.

Last week, sponsors of Dairy Cares of Wisconsin collectively raised over $210,000 during its virtual fundraiser. That brings total overall contributions to more than $1.5 million over the last 10 years, nearly all of which has been donated to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. On a normal year, the group hosts a Garden Party near Green Bay to raise money for its cause. But this year's event was held online as a safety precaution in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jim Ostrom, Dairy Cares co-founder and a member of the Children's Wisconsin Foundation Board, says nearly every dollar donated to the organization goes directly to the hospital's general fund on behalf of the dairy community and its supporting industries. For its generosity, the medical center gave naming rights of its new simulation lab to Dairy Cares in 2018. The Dairy Cares committee chose Children's Hospital as their recipient because of its broad reach. Headquartered in Milwaukee, the facility provides statewide care through 40 different locations.
